The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum: The Samurai Collection not only populates the lobbies of our buildings and The Samurai Museum located in the building above Saint Ann Restaurant & Bar, it also contains a traveling exhibition that has been all over the world.
Starting in 2011, the exhibit has now visited six cities and garnered over 1.1 million visitors as it gears up to head to Chile this fall. One of the most wonderful things about having our traveling exhibition is the ability to inspire and awe visitors from all over.
While The Samurai Collection was at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ( LACMA) many artists including Kanye West and Drew Barrymore, visited the exhibition. Specifically, one of Madonna’s costume designers Arianne Phillips visited the exhibit and noted the collection as her inspiration for Madonna’s costume.
See the photos below and check out The Samurai Collection to see where Phillips gathered her inspiration in person. '
